Meet your Commissioners!

The Charter Commission is a body of twelve representatives tasked with revising and re-writing Portland’s Charter. Nine members were elected by voters, and three by the City Council. All commissioners are volunteering their time for this position.

In addition to elected Commissioners, you may also see the following staff or consultants at our meetings. These folks are paid by the Commission’s budget allocation to assist with the process, but do not make final decisions on proposed revisions.

  • Jim Kastiaficas, Charter Commission Attorney, Perkins Thompson & Maine Municipal Association (provided by the City of Portland)

  • Leyla Hashi, Communications Assistant

  • Jesse Dunno, Administrative/Research Aid for Governance and Departments Committee

  • Samaa Abdurraqib & Hilary North Ellsante: Meeting Facilitators (for governance debate)
